Coraline Review(:

Have you ever wondered what it's like to live a different life where everyone acted the opposite of their true personalities? In the movie Coraline , written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Henry Selick, a young girl named Coraline, the voice of Dakota Fanning, and her parents move to an unusual place called The Pink Palace. At first it seems as if it's dull and filled with careless people, but Coraline soon discovers that her eyes deceive her.

The film Starts out with Coraline searching for a secret well. She stumbles upon a "stalker" named Wybie, the voice of Robert Bailey Jr. Coraline becomes very annoyed of him quickly. Coraline ends up exploring her house and finds a peculiar  looking door covered up by wallpaper. Shes curious and bugs her mom to open the door. Unexpectedly, the door led to a brick wall. In the middle of the night, little mice appear  in her room and lead Coraline to the mysterious door.To Coraline's surprise, the door led to another dimension. There in the other world was her "other mother", played by Teri Hatcher, and her "other father", with the voice of John Hodgman. They seem to have the opposite personalities of what Coraline's "real parents". For example, the "other mother" cooks and buys Coraline presents and "other father" creates a garden and write songs about Coraline and they both have buttons for eyes. Coraline soon finds out that just because they have different personalities, doesn't mean that her real parents don't care.
Coraline and Wybie looking down the well.
The creation of this film is very complicated. Neil Gaiman , the writer, and Henry Selick, director, collaborated on this movie to make it the best that it could be. It took one man's book and another man's imagination to finalize this stop-motion animation. With twenty-four pictures per second, it took about one week to create seven seconds of the movie. It was a long yet rewarding process.
Although the writer and directors worked diligently on this movie, they couldn't have one it without the actors, costume designers, and set creators
Actors worked on bringing the characters to life and meaning to the movie. The costume designers used their steady hands to create small enough costumes to fit clay made characters the size of their palms. The set directors design scenes in the movie and also work with moving the dolls according to the way the actors speak.
Overall, Coraline is an exuberating film that i would watch over and over again. The plot is great but the overall meaning is touching. The only thing i suggest for this movie is to sit down and enjoy it.

The X Factor Review!!!

L.A. Reid, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell, Brittney Spears

The X Factor stage
Originating from the United Kingdom, this is only the second season of The X Factor. This competitive reality game show reveals compelling stories of people who think they have a shot at winning five million dollars and a contract with Syco/Sony Music Productions. The returning judges are the obvious Simon Cowell along with L.A. Reid while the new judges are Demi Lovato and Brittney Spears. Although Simon is known for his brutal honesty, it seems as if he and Brittney traded places. Her criticism towards the contestants and her constantly saying "no" was harsh but at least she didn't lie. Simon seems to be more understanding this season with his comments,"Best contestant on this show." or "My favorite conetestant so far in this competition." Demi and L.A. Reid had true connections with the contestants and I feel that that makes a successful television show and really draws in the viewers. For example, Jillian Jensen was a contestant on the show who was bullied throughout her childhood. "When you sang, You broke my heart." Demi claimed. Demi was also bullied throughout her life but she made a statement, "look, we're on stage and the bullies are sitting on their couch, watching us on tv." I thought this was very powerful and very courageous of Demi to say.The X Factor is and overall great show. It expresses true emotions not only from the contestants but from the judges too. All in all,I would rate this show five out of five stars because of its success around the world and the opportunity it gives people to pursue their dreams.
